Sit quietly for 5 minutes before measuring
Avoid caffeine, smoking, and exercise for 30 minutes before measuring
Use a properly fitting blood pressure cuff
Place the cuff on a bare upper arm
Keep your feet flat on the floor
Keep your back supported
Rest your arm on a table at heart level
Do not talk or move during the measurement
Turn on the monitor and follow the device instructions
Take two readings, 1 to 2 minutes apart
Record the results with the date and time
Measure at the same time each day if tracking regularly
Seek medical advice if readings are consistently high or low
