Lie down on your back
Place pillows or cushions under your calves or ankles
Keep your legs raised above heart level
Relax your legs and avoid crossing them
Elevate for 15 to 30 minutes at a time
Repeat several times a day if needed
Use a recliner or sofa with leg support
Keep your knees slightly bent if more comfortable
Make sure the position feels stable and comfortable
Lower your legs slowly when finished
