Get a physical exam
Get a blood test for mononucleosis
Ask about a Monospot test
Ask about Epstein-Barr virus antibody testing if the Monospot test is negative or unclear
Get a complete blood count if recommended
Follow any instructions for timing of testing
Avoid close contact and sharing drinks or utensils until you know the results
Follow up with your provider for interpretation of the test results
