Bake a cake and let it cool completely
Crumble the cooled cake into fine crumbs
Mix in frosting a little at a time until the crumbs hold together
Roll the mixture into small balls
Place the balls on a lined baking sheet
Chill the balls in the refrigerator until firm
Melt chocolate or candy coating
Dip each cake ball into the melted coating
Let excess coating drip off
Place the coated balls back on the lined sheet
Add sprinkles or decorations before the coating sets
Chill until the coating is fully hardened
