Simmer uncovered to reduce excess liquid
Mash some of the beans or beans and vegetables
Stir in tomato paste
Add a cornstarch slurry
Add a flour slurry
Mix in masa harina
Add crushed tortilla chips or cornmeal
Stir in mashed potatoes or potato flakes
Add pureed beans or vegetables
Cook longer over low heat
Let it rest off the heat to thicken
Add shredded cheese
Add a small amount of roux
Use less broth or water next time
