Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a pan over medium heat
Add 2 minced garlic cloves and cook for 30 seconds
Pour in 1 cup heavy cream
Stir and let it simmer gently for 3 to 5 minutes
Add 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Stir until the cheese melts and the sauce thickens
Season with salt and black pepper to taste
Add a pinch of nutmeg if desired
Toss with cooked pasta
Add reserved pasta water a little at a time if the sauce is too thick
