2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
1/4 cup warm water
3/4 cup warm milk
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 large egg
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 1/2 to 3 cups all-purpose flour
Oil for frying
Powdered sugar or glaze for topping
Dissolve yeast in warm water
Mix warm milk, sugar, melted butter, egg, and salt
Add yeast mixture
Add flour gradually until a soft dough forms
Knead dough until smooth and elastic
Place dough in a greased bowl and let rise until doubled
Roll out dough on a floured surface
Cut into donut shapes
Let cut donuts rise until puffy
Heat oil to 350°F
Fry donuts until golden brown on both sides
Drain on paper towels
Coat with powdered sugar or dip in glaze
