Heat 2 cups of milk in a saucepan over medium heat
Add 2 to 3 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder
Add 2 to 4 tablespoons of sugar, to taste
Add 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Add a pinch of salt
Add 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
Add a small pinch of cayenne pepper, if desired
Whisk until smooth and hot
Optional: add 1 to 2 ounces of chopped Mexican chocolate
Continue whisking until fully melted and frothy
Pour into mugs and serve immediately
