Start with a square sheet of paper
Fold the paper in half horizontally
Unfold it
Cut or tear along the fold to make two equal rectangles
Take one rectangle and fold it in half lengthwise
Unfold it
Fold the top and bottom edges toward the center crease
Fold the strip in half along the center crease
Fold one end diagonally upward to form a triangle
Fold the other end diagonally downward to form a matching triangle
Repeat with the second rectangle, making the folds in the opposite direction
Place one folded strip on top of the other in a cross shape
Tuck the ends of each strip into the pockets of the other strip
Tighten the folds so the shape locks together
Flatten the center and adjust the points evenly
Press the star firmly to secure it
