Add 2 to 3 tablespoons of oil to a pot with a lid
Heat the pot over medium heat
Add 2 to 3 popcorn kernels to test the heat
When the test kernels pop, add 1/2 cup popcorn kernels
Cover the pot with the lid slightly ajar
Shake the pot gently every few seconds
Remove the pot from heat when popping slows to 2 to 3 seconds between pops
Pour the popcorn into a bowl
Add salt or other seasoning if desired
