Chill a soft serve machine according to the manufacturer’s instructions
Combine milk, cream, sugar, and a little salt in a bowl
Add vanilla extract or other flavoring if desired
Whisk until the sugar is fully dissolved
Refrigerate the mixture until very cold
Pour the cold mixture into the soft serve machine
Churn until thick and fluffy
Serve immediately in cones or cups
Freeze briefly if a firmer texture is desired
