How To Make Upma At Home?

Heat 1 to 2 tablespoons oil or ghee in a pan

Add 1 teaspoon mustard seeds and let them splutter

Add 1 teaspoon cumin seeds

Add 1 to 2 green chilies, chopped

Add 1 teaspoon grated ginger

Add a few curry leaves

Add 1 chopped onion and sauté until soft

Add 1 cup semolina or rava and roast on low heat until light golden

Add 2.5 to 3 cups hot water

Add salt to taste

Stir continuously to avoid lumps

Cook until the mixture thickens and the water is absorbed

Cover and simmer for 2 to 3 minutes

Turn off the heat

Add chopped coriander leaves

Add a squeeze of lemon juice if desired

Serve hot
