Call your veterinarian or an animal poison control hotline immediately
Be ready to provide your dog’s weight, the substance eaten, the amount, and the time it was swallowed
Follow the veterinarian’s instructions exactly
Do not induce vomiting if your dog is unconscious, having seizures, having trouble breathing, or acting extremely weak
Do not induce vomiting if your dog swallowed a sharp object, corrosive substance, or petroleum product
Do not give salt, syrup of ipecac, hydrogen peroxide, or any home remedy unless specifically instructed by a veterinarian
If instructed to induce vomiting, use only the method and dose your veterinarian provides
Seek emergency veterinary care right away if your dog shows severe symptoms or if you are unsure what was ingested
