Lay the harness flat and identify the neck loop, chest strap, and buckles
Calm your dog and have treats ready
Slip the neck opening over your dog’s head, or place the harness under the chest if it is a step-in style
Position the chest strap across the front of the dog’s chest
Bring the side straps around the body
Fasten all buckles or clips securely
Adjust the straps so the harness fits snugly but not tightly
Check that you can fit two fingers between the harness and your dog
Make sure the harness does not rub the legs, neck, or shoulders
Attach the leash to the harness ring
Walk your dog a few steps and recheck the fit
