Use a soft measuring tape
Stand straight and relax your body
Measure your waist at the narrowest point, usually above the belly button and below the ribs
Keep the tape snug but not tight
Make sure the tape is level all the way around
Breathe out normally before reading the measurement
Measure your hips at the widest part of your buttocks
Keep your feet together when measuring hips
Make sure the tape stays parallel to the floor
Record both measurements in inches or centimeters
Recheck each measurement for accuracy
