Place the wheel on a flat surface
Measure straight across the wheel from one outer edge to the opposite outer edge
Include the tire if you want the overall wheel-and-tire diameter
Measure only the rim if you want the rim diameter
Use a tape measure or ruler aligned through the center of the wheel
Record the measurement in inches or millimeters
Repeat the measurement to confirm accuracy
