Wash your hands and gather the mouthguard, a pot of hot water, a bowl of cold water, and a mirror
Read the manufacturer’s instructions first
Bring water to a boil, then remove it from heat
Submerge the mouthguard in the hot water for the recommended time
Remove the mouthguard with tongs or a spoon
Let it cool briefly until it is warm but still pliable
Place the mouthguard in your mouth
Center it over your upper teeth
Bite down gently
Use your fingers and tongue to press it against your teeth and gums
Suck in lightly to help shape it
Hold it in place for the recommended time
Remove the mouthguard and place it in cold water
Check the fit
Repeat the process if needed
Trim any excess material if the manufacturer allows it
Rinse the mouthguard before use
Store it in a clean, ventilated case
