Take the clothes outside and shake off loose mold
Wear gloves and a mask
Brush off visible mold outdoors if possible
Wash the clothes in the hottest water safe for the fabric
Add detergent
Add white vinegar or baking soda if appropriate for the fabric
Soak heavily affected items before washing
Wash the items separately from other laundry
Dry the clothes completely in direct sunlight if possible
Repeat washing if mold remains
Discard items that are badly damaged or cannot be cleaned safely
Clean the washer after washing moldy clothes
Store clean clothes only when fully dry
