How to Mount an SSD in a Desktop?

Power off the desktop and unplug it

Open the case side panel

Locate an available 2.5-inch drive bay or mounting point

If needed, attach the SSD to a 2.5-inch-to-3.5-inch adapter bracket

Secure the SSD to the bracket or bay with screws

Connect a SATA data cable from the SSD to a motherboard SATA port

Connect a SATA power cable from the power supply to the SSD

If using an M.2 SSD instead, insert it into the M.2 slot at an angle

Press the M.2 SSD down and secure it with the mounting screw

Close the case side panel

Reconnect power and boot the desktop

Enter BIOS or UEFI to confirm the SSD is detected

Initialize, partition, and format the SSD in the operating system if needed
