How to Put a SSD in a Desktop?

Power off the desktop

Unplug the power cable

Press the power button for a few seconds to discharge residual power

Open the computer case

Ground yourself to avoid static electricity

Locate an empty drive bay or mounting spot

Mount the SSD in the bay or bracket

Connect a SATA data cable to the SSD and motherboard if using a SATA SSD

Connect a SATA power cable from the power supply to the SSD if using a SATA SSD

Insert the SSD into the M.2 slot and secure it with the screw if using an M.2 SSD

Close the case

Reconnect the power cable

Turn on the desktop

Enter BIOS or UEFI to confirm the SSD is detected

Initialize, partition, and format the SSD in the operating system if needed

Install or clone the operating system if the SSD will be used as the main drive
