Open Instagram
Go to the profile, post, story, or chat you want to mute
Tap the three dots or menu icon
Select Mute
Choose what to mute, such as Posts, Stories, or Messages
For a chat, open the conversation, tap the name at the top, and select Mute messages or Mute calls
For a story, press and hold the story in the feed, then tap Mute
To unmute, repeat the steps and select Unmute
