Use the window latch or handle to unlock it
Push the sash upward or pull it downward to open, depending on the window type
Slide the window left or right if it is a sliding window
Turn the crank if it is a casement window
Push the window back into place to close it
Pull the sash down or up to fully close it, depending on the window type
Lock the latch or handle after closing
Check that the window is sealed shut
