Open the Photos app
In the Photos sidebar, create a new album
Select photos to add
Drag-and-drop photos into the album
Use the search bar to find photos by date, place, or people
Turn on iCloud Photos to keep your library synced across devices
Create folders on your Mac using Finder (if you prefer folder-based organization)
In Finder, create a folder structure by year, month, or event
Import photos into Finder folders from your camera or phone
Rename files in Finder by selecting them and choosing Rename
Use Photos to sort by date automatically
Create separate albums for different categories (trips, events, people, favorites)
Use smart albums (if available in your Photos version) to auto-collect photos based on criteria
Add keywords to photos in Photos (if supported in your version)
Use Favorites to mark important photos
Remove duplicates using Photos’ duplicate detection tools (if available)
Export organized albums to external storage for backup
Keep originals organized by maintaining consistent naming and folder structure
Regularly review and clean up albums to keep them current
