Remove hardware
Clean the furniture thoroughly
Sand the surface
Wipe away dust
Apply primer
Let the primer dry
Sand lightly again if needed
Apply the first coat of paint
Let it dry completely
Apply additional coats as needed
Let the final coat cure
Reattach hardware
Use a clear topcoat if desired
