Make wudu and pray two rak‘ahs of voluntary prayer
In the first rak‘ah, recite Surah Al-Fatihah and any other surah
In the second rak‘ah, recite Surah Al-Fatihah and any other surah
After completing the prayer, recite the Istikhara dua
Ask Allah to guide you to what is best in the matter
Mention the specific matter you are seeking guidance about in the dua
Trust Allah’s choice and proceed with what becomes easier and better
Repeat the prayer if needed
Seek counsel from knowledgeable and trustworthy people if appropriate
