Choose the right clover type for your climate and purpose
Select a planting site with full sun or light shade
Test the soil pH and aim for about 6.0 to 7.0
Remove weeds, rocks, and debris from the planting area
Loosen the top 2 to 4 inches of soil
Rake the soil smooth and level
Mix clover seed with sand or fine soil for even spreading
Broadcast the seed evenly over the area
Lightly rake the seed into the soil
Press the seed into the soil with a roller or by walking gently over it
Water the area lightly after planting
Keep the soil consistently moist until germination
Avoid heavy watering that can wash seeds away
Mow only after clover is established, if needed
Avoid using nitrogen fertilizer
Control weeds carefully without harming young clover
Overseed thin spots if needed after establishment
