How To Plant Rhubarb?

Choose a planting site with full sun to partial shade

Select well-drained, fertile soil rich in organic matter

Clear the area of weeds and debris

Work compost or well-rotted manure into the soil

Dig a hole wide enough for the rhubarb crown

Place the crown with the buds 1 to 2 inches below the soil surface

Space plants 3 to 4 feet apart

Backfill the hole and firm the soil gently

Water thoroughly after planting

Apply a layer of mulch around the plant

Keep the soil consistently moist during establishment

Avoid harvesting in the first year after planting
