How To Plant Strawberries?

Choose a sunny location with well-drained soil

Remove weeds, rocks, and debris from the planting area

Test and amend the soil if needed for a slightly acidic pH

Mix in compost or well-rotted manure

Select healthy strawberry plants or bare-root crowns

Space plants about 12 to 18 inches apart

Set rows about 2 to 3 feet apart

Dig holes deep enough to spread the roots

Place the crown at soil level

Spread the roots out in the hole

Fill in soil gently around the roots

Firm the soil lightly around each plant

Water thoroughly after planting

Mulch around plants with straw or clean mulch

Keep the crown above the mulch

Water regularly to keep soil evenly moist

Remove flowers on newly planted strawberries for early growth

Watch for weeds and pests

Harvest berries when fully red
