Shuffle the deck and deal 7 cards to each player
Place the remaining cards face down as the draw pile
Flip the top card to start the discard pile
If the first card is an action card, apply its effect immediately
On your turn, play one card that matches the top discard by color, number, or symbol
If you cannot play a card, draw from the draw pile
If the drawn card can be played, you may play it immediately
If you still cannot play, end your turn
When you have one card left, say “UNO”
If you forget to say “UNO” and another player catches you before the next player’s turn, draw the penalty cards
Use action cards to change the flow of play
Skip makes the next player lose their turn
Reverse changes the direction of play
Draw cards force the next player to take cards and usually lose their turn
Wild cards let you choose the next color
Play the final card in your hand to win the round
Use house rules only if all players agree before the game starts
Follow the specific No Mercy card effects printed on the cards in your deck
Keep playing rounds until you decide on a winner by points or by agreement
