Do not try to pop your shoulder yourself
Stop the activity and rest the arm
Apply ice for 15 to 20 minutes at a time
Use a sling only if a clinician has advised it
Seek urgent medical care if the shoulder looks deformed, is very painful, or you cannot move it
Seek urgent medical care if there is numbness, weakness, swelling, or color change in the arm or hand
If you think it is dislocated, do not attempt to force it back in place
Follow up with a doctor or physical therapist for safe treatment
