Set up a low-sided litter box in a quiet, easy-to-reach place
Use unscented, clumping or non-clumping litter suitable for kittens
Keep the litter box clean and scoop it daily
Place the kitten in the litter box after waking up, after meals, and after playtime
Gently place the kitten in the box if you notice sniffing, circling, or squatting
Praise the kitten calmly after it uses the litter box
Never punish the kitten for accidents
Clean accidents thoroughly with an enzymatic cleaner
Keep food and water away from the litter box
Provide one litter box per kitten plus one extra
Make sure the kitten can easily access the box without climbing
Move the litter box gradually if you need to relocate it
Monitor the kitten for signs of constipation, diarrhea, or urinary problems
Contact a veterinarian if the kitten has repeated accidents or seems unwell
