Chop, crush, or lightly bruise the material to release aroma
Select an extraction method such as steam distillation, cold pressing, or solvent extraction
Place the plant material in the extraction setup
Apply heat, pressure, or solvent as required by the method
Collect the separated oil
Allow the oil to settle so impurities can separate
Filter the oil if needed
Store the essential oil in a dark glass bottle
Keep the bottle tightly sealed and away from heat and light
