Add a thin layer of oil or brush with melted butter or olive oil
Preheat the cooking method:
Oven: 400°F to 450°F (205°C to 230°C)
Grill: medium-high heat
Stovetop: medium heat
Air fryer: 380°F to 400°F (193°C to 205°C)
Cook until done:
Oven/baking: 10–15 minutes for 1-inch thickness
Grill: 4–6 minutes per side for 1-inch thickness (skin-side first)
Stovetop: 3–5 minutes per side for 1-inch thickness
Air fryer: 8–12 minutes depending on thickness
Check doneness:
Flake easily with a fork
Internal temperature reaches 125°F to 130°F (52°C to 54°C) for medium or 135°F (57°C) for firmer
Rest 2 minutes before serving
Optional glaze (apply last 2–3 minutes or during final cooking time):
Honey-soy, maple-balsamic, teriyaki, or lemon-garlic butter
