Wipe shiitake mushrooms clean with a damp cloth or paper towel
Trim off the tough stem ends
Remove the stems if they are woody
Slice or leave whole depending on the recipe
Cook by sautéing, stir-frying, roasting, grilling, or simmering
Season with salt, pepper, garlic, soy sauce, or herbs as desired
Cook until tender and browned
Serve immediately or add to soups, noodles, rice, or pasta
