How To Make Red Rice?

Rinse 1 cup red rice under cold water until the water runs mostly clear

Soak the rice for 20 to 30 minutes, then drain

Heat 1 tablespoon oil or ghee in a pot over medium heat

Add 1 teaspoon cumin seeds, if desired

Add 1 chopped onion and sauté until soft

Add 1 chopped tomato and cook until softened

Add 1 to 2 chopped green chilies, if desired

Add 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder, 1 teaspoon salt, and any other spices you like

Add the drained red rice and stir to coat

Add 2 to 2 1/2 cups water

Bring to a boil

Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 25 to 35 minutes

Turn off the heat and let it rest for 5 to 10 minutes

Fluff with a fork

Serve hot
