Helium is not practically produced by ordinary chemical reactions
Obtain helium by extracting it from natural gas deposits that contain helium
Separate helium from other gases using cryogenic distillation
Use pressure swing adsorption to concentrate helium from gas mixtures
Use membrane separation to remove larger gas molecules
Purify the extracted helium to remove nitrogen, methane, hydrogen, and moisture
Compress and store the purified helium in high-pressure cylinders
For laboratory-scale supply, purchase commercially bottled helium rather than attempting synthesis
