Do not pull a tooth at home
Contact a dentist or oral surgeon as soon as possible
If there is severe pain, swelling, fever, pus, or trouble breathing or swallowing, seek urgent medical care immediately
For pain, use over-the-counter pain relief only as directed on the label if safe for you
Rinse gently with warm salt water
Eat soft foods and avoid chewing on the affected side
Keep the area clean by brushing gently around the tooth
If a tooth is loose or broken, avoid wiggling, cutting, or pulling it
If a baby tooth is loose, ask a dentist before removing it
If a tooth has been knocked out, place it in milk or saliva and get emergency dental care right away
