Wear safety glasses, gloves, and a dust mask
Clear the area and protect nearby surfaces
Cut grout lines with a grout saw or oscillating tool
Start at a loose or broken tile if possible
Insert a putty knife, chisel, or floor scraper under an edge
Tap gently with a hammer to lift the tile
Pry up the tile in small sections
Remove remaining adhesive or thinset with a scraper or chisel
Use a heat gun if adhesive is stubborn
Dispose of broken tile pieces safely
Clean the subfloor after removal
