Turn on the printer
Open the ink cartridge access door
Wait for the carriage to stop moving
Remove the old cartridge if needed
Unpack the new HP ink cartridge
Remove the protective tape or plastic strip
Hold the cartridge by the sides
Insert the cartridge into the correct slot
Push it in until it clicks into place
Close the cartridge access door
Wait for the printer to align or initialize the cartridges
