Ensure the burette is clean and filled with the solution
Remove any air bubbles from the tip
Hold the burette vertically
Place your eye at the same level as the meniscus
Read the bottom of the meniscus for clear solutions
Read the top of the meniscus for dark or opaque solutions
Note the scale from top to bottom, with 0 at the top
Record the reading to two decimal places
Estimate the last digit between the smallest scale divisions
Take the initial reading before titration
Take the final reading after titration
Subtract the initial reading from the final reading to get the volume used
