Wash your hands thoroughly
Clean the earring and ear area with saline or antiseptic
Hold the front of the earring steady
Unscrew the flat back counterclockwise if it is threaded
Pull the back straight off if it is a push-pull style
Gently slide the post out of the piercing
Do not twist forcefully if it feels stuck
Apply a warm compress if the jewelry is tight
Use clean gloves or gauze for better grip
Seek help from a professional piercer if you cannot remove it safely
