Turn off the light switch
Turn off power at the circuit breaker
Verify the power is off with a voltage tester
Remove the light bulb
Remove the fixture cover or shade
Unscrew the fixture from the ceiling
Support the fixture while disconnecting the wires
Disconnect the wire nuts
Separate the ground wire
Remove the old mounting bracket if needed
Install the new mounting bracket
Connect the ground wire
Connect the white wires together
Connect the black wires together
Secure all wire connections with wire nuts
Tuck the wires into the electrical box
Attach the new fixture to the mounting bracket
Install the bulbs
Reattach the cover or shade
Restore power at the circuit breaker
Test the new ceiling light
