Turn off power to the garbage disposal at the breaker
Unplug the disposal if it has a cord
Disconnect the dishwasher drain hose if attached
Place a bucket under the sink
Loosen the drain trap and remove it from the disposal
Disconnect the electrical wiring or unplug the unit
Support the disposal and rotate it counterclockwise to remove it from the mounting ring
Remove the old mounting assembly from the sink flange if replacing it
Install the new sink flange and mounting hardware
Apply plumber’s putty if required by the new unit
Mount the new disposal onto the mounting ring
Reconnect the drain trap and dishwasher hose
Reconnect the electrical wiring or plug in the unit
Restore power at the breaker
Run water and test the disposal for leaks and proper operation
