How to Replace Tire Valve Stem?

Park on a flat surface, set the parking brake, and loosen the lug nuts

Jack up the vehicle and remove the wheel

Deflate the tire completely

Break the tire bead away from the rim on the valve stem side

Remove the valve stem cap and valve core

Pull the old valve stem out of the rim with a valve stem tool or pliers

Clean the valve stem hole in the rim

Lubricate the new valve stem with tire lubricant or soapy water

Insert the new valve stem through the rim hole

Pull the valve stem into place until it seats fully

Reinstall the valve core

Inflate the tire to seat the bead

Check for leaks around the valve stem with soapy water

Reinstall the wheel on the vehicle

Tighten the lug nuts

Lower the vehicle

Torque the lug nuts to specification

Recheck tire pressure after installation
