Wait until the orchid has finished blooming
Gather fresh orchid potting mix, a clean pot with drainage holes, sterilized scissors, and gloves if desired
Remove the orchid from its current pot
Gently shake off old potting medium from the roots
Trim away dead, mushy, or black roots with sterilized scissors
Keep firm, healthy roots intact
Place a small amount of fresh orchid mix in the new pot
Position the orchid so the base sits at the same level as before
Spread the roots out evenly in the pot
Fill around the roots with fresh orchid mix without packing it tightly
Tap the pot lightly to settle the medium
Water lightly after repotting if the potting mix is dry
Place the orchid in bright, indirect light
Avoid fertilizing for about one to two weeks after repotting
Repot again when the mix breaks down or the roots outgrow the pot
