Put the AirPods in their charging case and close the lid for 30 seconds
Open the lid
On the iPhone or iPad, go to Settings > Bluetooth
Tap the info icon next to the AirPods
Tap Forget This Device
Keep the AirPods in the case with the lid open
Press and hold the setup button on the back of the case for about 15 seconds
Release the button when the status light flashes amber, then white
Close and reopen the lid
Hold the case near your device and reconnect the AirPods
If they are still linked to the previous owner’s Apple ID, ask the previous owner to remove them from Find My
On the previous owner’s device, open Find My
Select the AirPods
Tap Remove This Device or Remove from Account
If needed, reset again after the previous owner removes them from their account
