Add new padding, foam, or batting if needed
Use the old fabric pieces as templates for the new fabric
Lay out the new fabric and cut each piece with extra allowance
Match patterns or fabric direction before cutting
Sew any necessary seams or piping
Attach the new fabric to the couch frame with a staple gun
Pull the fabric tight and smooth out wrinkles as you work
Reattach or recover the cushions
Trim excess fabric and secure loose edges
Install new dust cover fabric on the bottom if needed
Reassemble the couch and check for fit and finish
