Keep the pineapple at room temperature
Place it stem-side down
Store it in a paper bag with a banana or apple
Leave it out of direct sunlight
Check it daily for aroma and slight softness
Use it as soon as it smells sweet at the base
Do not refrigerate until it is ripe
Do not expect it to become much sweeter after cutting
