Open Messenger and select the chat
Tap the message box
Tap the GIF icon if available
Search for a GIF or browse the options
Tap the GIF you want to send
Wait for it to send automatically
If no GIF icon appears, tap the plus or sticker icon and look for GIFs there
You can also copy a GIF link and paste it into the chat if supported
