Use a fingertip grip, not a full-hand grip
Place your thumb fully into the thumb hole
Insert your middle and ring fingers only to the first knuckle or fingertip holes
Hold the ball with a relaxed wrist
Keep your wrist straight or slightly cupped
Swing the ball smoothly on a straight path
Release the thumb first
Let the fingers come out last
Rotate your fingers slightly up the side of the ball at release
Turn your hand as if shaking hands with the pins
Follow through toward your target
Practice consistent timing and release
Use a ball with proper fit and weight
Practice on a lane with dry oil or less oil for easier hook control
